PROJECTION

WEDNESDAY 29 MARCH 2017, TO 19H30

SCREENING PROPOSED BY CHARLÈNE DINHUT AND BENOÎT HICKÉ
Director: Yuri Ancarani (Italy / France, 69 ', 2016, VOSTF)
In the presence of the director

Falconry has more than 40 centuries of history. In the West, it was, in the Middle Ages, one of the great passions of the aristocracy. It retains all its prestige in the contemporary culture of the Gulf countries. Italian artist Yuri Ancarani, known for his trilogy Iron disease widely presented in museums around the world, spent three years in Qatar. Hunting is a tradition that maintains a bond with the desert in a context dominated by urban life.

It is a falconer accompanying his competition birds to an important tournament which guides us in this crossing. In the zenithal light of a stripped space, between parables and collisions of objects of desire, the film tells of a strange weekend in the desert. An odyssey that is both very contemporary and anchored in a certain history, as if illuminated by the aesthetic choices of the artist.
