A SESSION DESIGNED WITH THE PLASTICIAN ARTIST LINA HENTGEN

Echoing the exhibition Safarix, this evening is an opportunity to go in search of cartoons little-known, experimental animated films, and discover two films, previously unseen in theaters, by the plastic artist duo Hippolyte Hentgen. It will be about thesoul, moving lines, sassy animals, invented hunters, incredible safaris, psychedelic travel experiences ... "The cartoon designates a drawing with a humorous or caricatural value before it is serialized into "comics".

Appeared in the USA at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, it quickly becomes a genre in itself, recognizable by its characters with flexible anatomies and reduced affects, its animals as well as its anthropomorphized objects, animated by a life of its own in a burlesque, comical and sometimes world. oddly violent. The animated cartoonssoon represent a flourishing industry, often in the service of advertising or of informative and educational support. But the novelty of the medium and technical advances also arouse the interest of avant-gardes: through this innovation, they perceive new issues concerning the treatment of drawing, movement and synaesthetic processes. »Lina Hentgen.
