SCREENING PROPOSED BY CHARLÈNE DINHUT AND BENOÎT HICKÉ
Real. : Zhao Liang (China / France - 2015 - 95 ′) / Thanks to INA
Director Zhao Liang continues his exciting work of auscultation of the Chinese pulse. He traveled for two years in Inner Mongolia (a vast province in northern China) to capture the spectacle of mining activities.
His film navigates between dream (or nightmare?) And reality, allegory and harshness of reality, between images, direct sounds and music. The mountain, nature, even life seem to fade under the hand of Man, in a barely veiled metaphor of the major turnaround we are experiencing (the Anthropocene). Behemoth is indeed a film noir and dragon in high definition, both political and sensitive, which unfolds with a unique intensity in contemporary cinema.

In the presence of the director.
An old woman walks the trails leading to the peak of Canigou, in the Pyrenees Orientales. Images from the past appear on her body… A subtle film about nostalgia (for light?).
