FROM MAN TO BEAR
PROPOSAL OF THE REVIEW Billebaude
From prehistoric times, bears, which sometimes frequented the same caves as humans, were hunted for their meat. It is the beginning of a long history whose techniques are documented in treatises, bestiaries and books of zoology. The bear is hunted as prey and as a pest, but it also has this very particular status of adversary against which to measure its power in melee. In the museum,
Billebaude invites you on a documentary hunt, which brings out the symbolic representations of the animal.
With Dominique Armand, archaeozoologist at the University of Bordeaux.
