DIORAMA
A DANCED PERFORMANCE BY MARIE ORTS
Marie Orts is inspired by the series by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto (dioramas, 1976) in which he photographs scenes of stuffed animals in their environment behind the windows of natural history museums. It traps the spectator who, observing the photograph, thinks that the captured subjects are alive, when it is only a staging. The starting point for this series is the common cultural assumption that cameras always show raw reality. The performer thus takes up the concept of this deception to create a unique choreography.
